Project Civil Engineer

Job Description Arcadis is seeking an experienced Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to support our growing portfolio of geotechnical and sediment-related projects in Mid-Atlantic Region.   This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual looking for career growth in consulting. Candidates must work well in both team settings and independently and support a strong health and safety workplace. The successful candidate will be able to serve as an intermediary between upper level staff and junior staff. The position requires experience in geotechnical engineer principals and an educational background in soil/sediment remediation design, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, troubleshooting, and construction principles, as well as sound organization and written and verbal communication skills. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Overseeing sediment, pore water and surface water assessments, remedial investigations, feasibility studies and remedial designs. Overseeing geotechnical evaluations of soft sediment consolidation, static and seismic slope stability, construction dewatering, temporary/permanent excavation support and in-situ stabilization design. Reviewing technical analyses/calculations performed by entry and junior-level staff. Preparing and reviewing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda. Preparing internal and client communications. Managing project contractual and financial issues (including terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process) Monitoring team performance for compliance with contractual agreements and budgets. Mentoring entry-level staff. The selected candidate will have: Experience using various computer software (e.g., AutoCAD, Geo-Slope, Shoring Suite, PLAXIS) Experience developing remedial design alternatives and cost estimates, designing sediment caps and sediment removal actions. Experience overseeing entry and junior-level engineers and scientists. Excellent, clear and concise, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Strong technical writing skills. Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills with attention to details. Ability to work independently and as part of project teams. Ability to balance multiple assignments and activities to meet project deadlines. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline 5-10 years of experience EIT, or ability to take within 1 year from date of hire Required Driving Statement This position requires a current valid driver's license and clean driving record. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
