Refugee Social Worker - Unaccompanied Children Program (UAC) - Bilingual English/Spanish

Strengthening families for the well-being of children is our top priority.
As a Refugee Social Worker you will conduct culturally sensitive assessments, referrals and counseling for refugee children who are being placed with family members. Serve as liaison between the LIRS-DUCS Project clientele and court personnel, law enforcement and the professional community in the state of New Jersey.
Conduct assessments, referrals, and counseling for refugee individuals and families.
Consult with staff of refugee resettlement, Court personnel, human service, and community mental health agencies to facility professional relationships to coordinate culturally appropriate services. Develop curriculum, organize and conduct cultural workshops for community professionals and facilitate professional relationships among the participants.
Make and coordinate referrals when necessary to community services.
Prepare a case files through timely assessments, Treatment Services Plans, Progress Notes, and Closing Summary Reports on every referred refugee. Complete paperwork within appropriate timeframes.
Conduct interviews, screenings, assessments, home visits, post placement support/reports and home studies as needed for domestic and/or international families.
Willingness to travel within the state conducting in-home assessments and visits.
Compile statistical information each month including numbers served, cases opened, and ethnic statuses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
1. BSW or MSW in social work field. Human Service Degree applicants will be considered. Social Work Experience Preferred.
2. Social Work license or eligible to obtain social work licensure within 6 months (LSWA, LGSW, LCSW).
3. Prior experience in child welfare:
4. Demonstrate excellent clinical, assessment skills, and crisis intervention skills.
5. Demonstrate verbal and written communications skills.
6. Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions.
7. Bilingual abilities and bicultural experience.
8. Subscription to and integration of the agency Mission Statement and Cultural Diversity Commitment.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with refugee or minority families
Knowledge, experience and training in service to victims of domestic violence
Mature and stable judgments, sensitivity to various cultures and the unique history of refugees.
Previous experience in conducting home studies preferred certification in safe home studies.
